GPS

Because he's a bit of a geek, and tracks things as part of his work, Mike decided I needed a GPS receiver. So now I'm the proud owner of a Garmin Etrex Venture. What does that mean?  When he straps this little box on my back it will tell him where I went, how far, how fast.  He's only going to put it on me when he's around, so I guess it won't be too annoying. The harness still slips some, but Mike's working on it.

This is the display Mike can see while walking me.(A dog with a dashboard??). This if from our first walk with near home the GPS. Total distance walked: 1.6 miles. While I was dragging Mike behind I only went as fast as 7.9mph, but when he took off the leash in the front yard I hit almost 15mph. We'll have to see how this compares as we take it on our walks.

This is a plot of where we walked around the neighborhood. No maps yet, Mike still hasn't learned how to do that. Our house is where the little arrow is in the bottom right corner.

Update:
Mike got me a new GPS, a Garmin Gecko 201. It's smaller and lighter than the last one, so it doesn't slow me down.  Here's a shot of the display from last weekend in southern California on the lure course.  My new top speed of 29.0 mph!  I'm trying to become the world's fastest Jack Russell Terrier. If I'm the only one with GPS, then as far as anyone will know, I'm the fastest.
