January 2001

January 2001.  The holidays are over, Mike's back to work.  I'm a little older and wiser now. I have my own door to the back yard, so I get a little more freedom inside the house. I'm also done with all my shots, so I get more freedom outside the house as well.

Relaxing in the living room.  I'm better trained now, no more staying on the waterproof blanket.

I also have a seatbelt in the car now.  No more traveling inside that darn crate!

I can be a backseat driver, or just stick my head out the back window and sniff the world as it goes by.

With the harness on, I can also snuggle a little.  Just have to dodge Mike's elbow when he shifts.

Toy dog workshop at Downtown Dogs. Hmm... what is a toy dog?  Saw this one wearing a sweater, I guess he qualifies.

Dachshunds.  Very low to the ground. I'm used to walking under big dogs, what am I supposed to do with these guys?

Oh, I know.. they're made that way for jumping over them easily!

Mike kept saying sit, sit, sit to this one. Hard to tell if it's sitting from this view, so he finally gave the dog a treat.  Said he'd take the dogs word for it.

Why does Mike insist on taking pictures of me like this?  I'm really not a vicious dog!

One of the things you learn in class, if you see a crowd around a person's knees, that's the one with the good treats. Get there quick before they run out.

Flipper.  It's his b-day today so a bunch of us went out to the woods to play.  If you get carsick, get your driver to take the freeway. That Calveras Rd. is real stomach turner, take my word for it. (Sorry Mike )

See anything different about this picture?  Not a flattering pose, but notice the lack of leash.  My first romp in the great outdoors without Mike slowing me down. Loved it! I think I ran 3 miles for every 1 that Mike walked.

Hard to see, but that's me in the foreground. Jumping from rock to rock, it was a blast.

Another far away shot, but that's me to the right of Flipper.  See, I can keep up with the big dogs!

Two hours of playing indoors with all the little dogs.
Long winding road to the woods.
A couple more hours hitting the trails with the big dogs.
The minute I walked in the door I headed for the couch curled up, went to sleep.
