Monument to Kauila at Punaluu The black sand beach at Punaluu is home to Hanu, Hawaiian green sea turtles. This is monument is dedicated to Kauila, a turtle said to have had the power to turn herself from a turtle into human form and would play with children along the shoreline, keeping watch over them. A quick and dirty panoramic picture of Punaluu. Hard to take create one with the waves constantly changing. Guess that's why it's better to see it in person. Click to see a larger version.
